It was good to be back on the hockey pitch after a football break. The girls were raring to go, although it took a few minutes to settle down and remember that there was no kicking of the ball in hockey! With a nil-all start at the first turn-around, FSM quickly took advantage of the opportunity to batter the Ballard goal end from the second play onwards. The forwards, Elora, Hettie and Isla H, supported in the midfield by Polly, were faster to the ball and greedier for the goal today. Isla W and Vhukhudo were kept on their toes in defence, too, with Phoebe kitted up in goal. Ballard popped in an equaliser in the third session of play and, clearly, FSM's girls decided that was enough, taking the game to the opposition defence. Our players rotated to get more involved in the play and Phoebe took a turn out of goal... netting a goal of her own in the process! This team is developing into a strong unit. Still room for various improvements, but they are well on their way. Great stuff, girls!
Final score 9 - 1 to FSM; Girl of the Game: Elora - so busy it seemed like there were 3 of her on the pitch!
