n a tough and chilly encounter, the U13 Girls B team faced Sandroyd School, enduring both the cold weather and a strong opposition in a 4-0 defeat. Despite the scoreline, the team showed tremendous spirit and resilience throughout the match.
From the outset, Sandroyd put pressure on the defense, but goalkeeper Eliza was quick off her line and made several key saves to keep the score level early on. Defenders Mariana, Rowena, Isla, and Regina worked tirelessly to block shots and clear the ball, with Isla's impressive defensive efforts standing out.
Midfielders Bodicea, Sophia , and Sophie did their best to support both defense and attack, but Sandroyd’s well-organized structure proved difficult to break through. As the game progressed, Sandroyd's relentless pressure paid off, and they were able to score two quick goals in the first half.
The second half saw the girls battle on, with Captain Sophie leading by example and encouraging her teammates. Despite their best efforts, including some spirited runs from Vera and Mariana, Sandroyd managed to score two more goals, sealing a 4-0 win.
Elora, who had been solid at the front and was a key player in trying to stem the tide, was deservedly named Man of the Match for her exceptional attacking work.
