U11A match report v Dumpton

There was plenty of excitement as the U11A team took to the field against Dumpton. After a strong start where both Maxwell and Henry went close to scoring, it was Dumpton who took the lead. We kept the pressure up and this time it was Joseph whose shot narrowly went the wrong side of the post. Charlie was solid in defence whilst Hugo C was dictating play with accurate passing from the back.

In the second third, Hugo GH was quick out of the blocks and was scampering everywhere. Hardy and Hugo C showed moments of flair that would not be out of place on the beaches of Brazil. Brayden made a good impact with some mazy runs. A moment of magic came as Hardy's long range shot flew into the top corner and at 1-1, it was game on. Whilst we were on top, we were thankful for a good save from Mac and I was pleased with the positivity and support from the subs on the sideline. Henry, who was setting the standard with his workrate, closed their goalkeeper and his shot was deflected into their own net to put us in the lead. Good play by Dumpton earnt them a goal and going into the final third, it was neck and neck at 2-2.

In the final third, Hugo GH made an important clearance before Maxwell ran from the half way line only to be denied by a good save. We were on top and looking more likely to score when we were left a bit short at the back and Dumpton sped through and had the numbers to finish cooly. I liked Mac's honesty is declaring a corner against us rather than a goal kick. Well done. Our boys kept plugging away but despite the pressure we put on them, we couldn't quite make the breakthrough and the game ended 3-2 to Dumpton. Henry went close but for his brave defensive duties, the man of the match goes to Charlie. Well done boys.

Thank you to Mr Collinge for refereeing.
