Glorious sunshine, excited children and a very busy afternoon of football matches! The Team had a tough afternoon ahead, bravely facing opposition up to a year older in terms of both experience and size. FSM's finest rallied to the cause, committing strong tackles, looking for space, chasing down the ball and any break-aways by the other team. Alex faced a barrage of strikes in goal, often one-on-one, and kept out far more shots than went in. Tatty, Darcey, Issy and Naomi were not afraid to get stuck in, learning more about positioning with every successive game. Blake, William and Olly worked hard, covering a lot of ground and looking to block and make useful passes. Ciaran showed some nifty skills on the ball, forging forwards with real pace and making lots of shots on goal, while Charlie threw himself into every tackle and forward drive, blocking opposition attacks. Goals were in short supply to begin with, not for want of shots - mere inches away from the net in most cases.

As time went on, and with justifiably tired legs, we traded for a little fresh blood, bringing Harry into the mix. There was a boost to the spirits, to the energy levels - and to the scoreline! We earned our first draw! A little later, Freddie brought another fresh pair of legs over to support us. It was good to see the more experienced players working with the team to help them create more space and use the ball effectively. Earning a win revived us for the last game. 8 games, nearly an hour's football: no wonder there were tired legs!

These children should be proud of their positivity, their teamwork and their sheer grit in a tough afternoon's play; well done indeed!
