Mr Hosking couldn’t be prouder of the effort all the children put forth during a series of competitive matches where they did themselves proud. Naomi tackled fiercely and Darcey also worked tirelessly as they protected their goal from numerous opposition attacks.
Charlie Clarke made several good interceptions and Oliver Brown remained focused on moving the ball forwards, where Ciaran was able to score numerous goals and be a menace to the opposition defences.
William Walker was a titan at the back, sweeping up loose balls and terrifying the opposition with his ferocious tackling, and his brother Alexander was reliable and attentive in goal, always ready to launch a quick counter attack when he had the ball.
The children followed Mr Hosking’s tactic well, pressing high from opposition goal kicks, and they never criticised their teammates or allowed their heads to drop.
They won their first game 5-0; drew their second 0-0 against a larger and imposing team; narrowly lost their third match 1-2 despite long periods of dominance, and finally won their final game as Blake scored a last minute winner!
Special mention must go to the FSM parents for their exuberant and vocal support throughout. Mr Hosking has never had to project quite so much in order to be heard!
