Match Report
Forres Sandle Manor School Boys-U13A vs  FSM - Ballard
On: Wednesday, 13 Nov 2024
Venue: at Home

3 games in and 3 wins. The U13As put on a great show of rugby for their loyal fans. Ballard put up a solid effort and made the boys work hard for their win but FSM never looked out of the driving seat. Josh (C) controlled the game wonderfully and moved the ball along the line encouraging width and free flowing play on top of that if felt like he made 50 tackles and kept the line of defence moving forwards to pressurise the oppositions attack. Another commanding game from the captain. His communication and vision allows the team to play to the high standards they are producing on the pitch.

The boys at times looked brilliant mixed in with a bit of sloppiness. There was some brilliant tries scored. Jeppe got 3!!! Having spent the last 3 days in bed it appeared he came back slightly lighter and speeder. The tries though were team tries as all came from superb hands down the line. Yehor was another stand out performer bagging two tries with another strong attacking and defensive game and showing some great support lines. So far in every game the opposition coach has mentioned what a handful he is to play against. Ben was again on top form and at one stage it took 3 of their players to stop his counter rucking. He also showed some great decision making for the teams last try and as always ran hard and with purpose. He's doesn't care about being flash but what he does care about is the team and that is what is making him and the team hard to beat. Well done vice captain.

The forwards had a real battle in the scrum but Jasper, Elliot and Samuel again proved their metal and won all their scrums and stole another two off of Ballard. All boys carried hard and got through a lot of dog work making tackles, hitting rucks and pressing in defence. Our back 3 of Ricky Seb and Thomas had their work cut out as some of Ballards best players were on the wings. All 3 players ran well with the ball in hand and defended as well as they could against some serious pace. Clayton and Jack are making a great centre pairing. They press well in defence and attack with speed. Claytons foot work is subtle but always gets past his first man with his acceleration and whilst he didn't get on the score sheet this time his performance as part of the team didn't go unnoticed. Jack on the other hand is like a battering ram direct and aggressive and has a lethal hand off that is really catching the opposition off guard. ONe of the best plays of the game came from his catch and return from the kickoff. Last but not least is Barns at scrum half whose job is made twice as hard because is uncle is the coach. But even as his harshest critic it can’t be denied that the teams speed of play is directly related to the scrum half digging it out and getting the ball away and barns did that with precision, pace and a bag full of bravery especially when it comes to putting your hands in amongst all those studs.

Overall it was a great team performance but there are tougher games to come and the boys will have to tighten up in defence to keep others at bay.

Man of the match is split this week between Jeppe our prolific try scorer and Barns our tough and rangy scrum half!
