FSM 27 vs Burgate 32
It wasn't the result the boys wanted but it was the game they needed. The season so far has been an odd one. It was important to see how we faired on the local circuit with our usual schools that we play and whilst during the football season we found the right level the rugby season has been way off the mark. The previous games have been almost walk overs and its been tricky at times to stop the score board hitting a cricket score with FSM being so dominant.
Today was different though the boys were well matched and although we started strongly we carried too many passengers who were hoping for a miracle rather than rolling up their sleeves and digging deep and getting on with the task in hand. Staying connected is imperative in defence and all too often Burgate found dog legs in defence that they could capitalise on. There was some great work at the ruck but we need to work quicker so the opposition don't have time to set a backline. Like wise when our big ball carriers who today work relentlessly in Oli W, Lucas and Josh needed that support to finish off what could have been other 3 or 4 tries the calling and support was not always there.
Today was a good learning curve. The boys needed to be tested and the game went right to the wire. Whilst burgate snatched the win there's no doubt that ours boys will be far better prepared for BCS in the last game before christmas.
Today man of the match Oli W.
