Our U13B team travelled to Sandroyd to play their U12A team. After a couple of early tries to the opposition, our tackling improved and we made a game of it by displaying plenty of guts, going into half time three tries down.
In the second half, we continued to be up against a good side but kept at it. They added more tries to their tally and just when it looked like our heads might drop, Max put in a super run and finished it off with a try in the corner. Mac added to our scoring in the final play with the game ending 45-10.
Overall, I have no qualms about the scoreline. The Sandroyd boys had a couple of good runners, were well drilled at the breakdown and (after a whole term of rugby) generally looked more seasoned rugby players. I am really proud of the FSM boys' performances. There were plenty of brave tackles, strong runs and a determination to stay in the game. Well done to our Year 6s for stepping up, the Spanish crew, Leo (non stop tackles), Teddy and Ben, our half back leaders in Charlie and Max but man of the match (as chosen by the boys and the ref picked him out too) goes to Anton. Overall, a gutsy performance by the boys and a decent game of rugby.
