After last week's tough match, the boys had something to prove to themselves today. The cold weather and wet ground created perfect conditions for an exciting game of rugby against a strong Sandroyd team.
Our boys kicked off with a blistering run from vice captain Blake, who darted through several Sandroyd players, slipping tackles and setting the tone for the following 30 minutes of play. Sandroyd quickly found gaps in our defence and scored, leading to a tit-for-tat contest that would last the whole game. Unfortunately, our defence faltered at times, enabling the larger Sandroyd runners to exploit our inexperience. However, the excellent efforts of Tom C and Joseph, who made vital tackles, along with Blake’s impressive hits and captain Tom K's characteristic ball-ripping tackles, stood out.
With ball in hand, the boys looked dangerous, offloading in the tackle like seasoned pros. Oliver made some impactful runs, and Hugo was involved in nearly every FSM play! Brayden particularly shone during our attacks, making it tough for the Sandroyd boys to stop him. Ultimately, Blake scored three tries, while Brayden nabbed a heroic five, bringing our tally to eight against Sandroyd’s nine.
The boys have shown fantastic improvement this week, and we’re excited to see what magic awaits next week in our final game before the Christmas break. Man of the match goes to Blake for his outstanding all-around performance!
