The U14 had an exciting first ever Fixture against Boundary Oak. For some it was their first ever hockey match but for the school it was the first time that we have stepped up to playing 11-a-side...the pitch suddenly feeling huge!
The game was used as a coaching game which gave us all a chance to have a look at the positions, establish some structure and to find our groove. Team work, communication and effort was exceptional and it truly was a pleasure to coach and umpire for the team.
In defence we had Lorelei, Darley-Rose, Florence and Leila, backed up by Siena in goal.First half was a little more intense with Boundary Oak putting on the pressure with FSM conceding two goals. Second half however, the defence had learned from the overcrowding and along with some brilliant saves by Siena, kept a clean sheet!
In the midfield we had Sophia, Anastasiia, Eva and Poppy. The work rate of the midfield was incredibly high and they were able to create some great passing options.
Our forwards were Lucille, Emily and Bea who were able to make some promising leads and certainly put Boundary Oak under more pressure in the second half.
Player of the match went to Sophia who showed her athleticism by covering almost every section of the pitch! She managed to provide that link between midfield and attack which was really needed.
A proud day and I know this is the start of more exciting matches ahead. Well done girls!
