Sunshine and high spirits galore, with Isla braving the goalie kit for the first time. She claims it was comfortable (although this was before a sweaty two matches...) and certainly looked a bit of a natural in that goal mouth.

We faced a large Sandroyd squad first. They had some good moves, making particularly effective passes. FSM blocked well, and had a bit more drive and pace; the teams were well balanced, perhaps with FSM claiming the greater possession. We were a little reticent about taking a shot on goal, then standing back to see what the goalie would do with the ball instead of following up for a rebound (more practice needed here), but were eventually rewarded with a bit of a scrabbly goal - no one seemed 100% sure who actually scored it, but we'll take them how they come. Polly earned the honours in this game, with total commitment to every touch, and sheer pace around the pitch.

We loaned Durlston Court a couple of players for their game against Sandroyd, and this, too, was well fought, with a 0 - 0 draw being the final score.

Next up, we faced Durlston Court, supplemented by a couple of Sandroyd's players this time. Our first half was somewhat messy, as we lost our formation a little. Isla made some solid saves, keeping a clean sheet the whole afternoon! Penny and Penny both had some super blocks and last minute clearances to keep the ball out of danger. Hettie was the star of this game, consistently blocking, using the wing, looking for the right pass. We took the ball to the opposition D on many occasions but, again, slightly faffy play meant the goal proved elusive... until Polly took a strike from further out, bypassing the melee in the goalmouth and landing solidly on the back-board.

Two matches, two wins. We're beginning to learn what formation works best. Well played, girls!
